I have always been fascinated by anyone who can actually throw a boomerang and get it to come back to themselves. I think it takes practice and precision - not to mention patience! Those who can do it have it down to a science.. Throw it - it comes back- throw it - it comes back!
Echoes are like boomerangs. Echoes are sounds that come back. I remember when I was a kid being at the Grand Canyon screaming and hearing an echo, echo, echo, echo!!!!! What I said didn’t immediately go away. Eventually it faded, but not at first. It came right back to me. Hmmmm think about that. What I said was repeated - it came back to me.
I recently read a paragraph someone wrote that had me thinking about this same idea.
Life is an echo.
What you send out, comes back.
What you sow, you reap.
What you give, you get.
What you see in others, exists in you.
Do not judge, so you will not be judged.
Radiate and give love and love will come back to you.
I love this so much! Not only does this give us instructions as to how we can treat others - it’s a version of the “golden rule” we were taught growing up, right? Treat others how we want to be treated.
The line “What you see in others, exists in you.” really stands out to me. This makes me reflect on myself and how I look at other people. Do I see the positive or do I see the negative? I think we tend to see what stands out the most in ourselves! It’s like an echo or a boomerang - what is coming back to me? I think this helps me realize that when I am down and talking negatively about myself is when I focus more on the negative in others. On the other hand, when I tend to concentrate on the good and the positive things (big and small) that I have going on in my life, I see the good in others too!
So if you want the best in life - send out the best in life! Throw out that boomerang with so much love that it comes back to you with more! Yell out so many wonderful things about people and hear the echoes go on for days! Start now!
KELI’S KORNER What part of this “Life is an echo” saying sticks out to you? How can you apply it to your life and the lives around you?
